From one end of the province to the other, Quebecers are waking up to a landscape more suited to October than December, and one meteorologist warns that New Year's Day won't look like magic.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has released a map of the province that shows the extent of snow on the ground by sector.
Many areas from Montreal to Caspé do not record any snow on the ground.
“In Montreal, we've had an average of 75% white Christmases. Since the 2000s, things have accelerated downward. We're almost 68% with a white Christmas. This year, we're going dark,” meteorologist Gilles Bryan said in an interview on LCN.

A green Christmas is rare in southern Quebec anymore, but the lack of snow on Dec. 31 could be even more likely, the expert pointed out.
“On New Year's Day, there will still be no snow on the ground. It will be a gray and brown New Year's Day in the coming days,” he continues, adding that the cold air will arrive for the New Year.

According to the ECCC, a low pressure system from Colorado will bring a mix of rain on December 27-28.
For southern Quebec, most of the precipitation will be liquid, and temperatures will be around three degrees Celsius.
