Ontario Provincial Police said Wednesday they have obtained video showing a fugitive man enjoying a short break on the side of a country road.
“Good news for kangaroos and the public. The police confirmed that the animal was caught yesterday [dans la région de] Chatham-Kent,” the police force clarified on its social media.
According to local media, the marsupial escaped from Greenview Aviaries and quickly made its way a few kilometers between him and his home, only to be caught hours later by police officers from the Chatham-Kent region.
A woman giving birth to the Amazon was surprised to see a kangaroo on her way, and she photographed and immortalized the event.
“I was driving and thought I saw a deer, then realized deer don't have arms,” Alexis Brochnicki commented on her Facebook page.
“There was already a young vet there. She called the local zoo. A police officer came after a while,” he added in an interview with CTV News, noting that the kangaroo was calm.
This is the second time a kangaroo has escaped in Ontario. Last December 1, a marsupial on its way to Quebec missed its keepers when it stopped in Oshawa. Three days later, he was found in good health.
