The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is trying to find a man who allegedly killed his neighbor last Saturday in Mercier, Montérégie.
Police are searching for 66-year-old Normand Ladouceur and are asking for the public’s help in locating him.
The latter is wanted for the murder of 77-year-old Therese Despiens.
Normand Ladouceur is 1m80 tall and weighs 120 kg. He is bald and has a scar on his head, SQ says.
He will be traveling in a red Ford Focus 2014 with registration Z26 WMC with four doors.
“They knew each other”
According to the SQ, the suspect and the victim were neighbours.
“They knew each other and lived in the same apartment building, but not at the same address,” said Stephen Tremblay, a spokesman for the SQ.
Therese Despiens was found “unconscious” in her apartment on rue Porcier in Mercier on July 1 at around 1pm.
The Mercier Police Department initially treated the case as a “suspicious death,” but the incident is now being treated as a homicide, so the person from the Criminal Investigation Service’s Crimes Against SQ.
“Anyone who sees Normand Ladouceur is asked not to intervene immediately and contact 911. Additionally, any information that may help locate this person can be reported confidentially to the Sûreté du Québec’s Criminal Information Center at 1 800 659-4264,” the SQ said in a statement.
