The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. Sunday on Route 173 near the intersection of Route La Rochelle. The lone occupant of his vehicle was not so lucky. He died inside his car, which caught fire after the impact.
“Identification procedures are necessary to properly identify the victim because his body was burned beyond recognition,” explains Béatrice Dorsainville, spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The causes and circumstances of the event are still unknown, and no hypothesis is preferred. Collision investigation officers were dispatched to the scene to shed light on the matter.
The investigation is ongoing and Route 173 is closed in both directions to allow officers to do their work.
