We are already reaching the middle of the weather summer, which runs from June 1st to August 31st. These are generally the hottest three months of the year. After a warm but rainy start, what do we have in the second half? Preview.
In terms of temperature, the weather conditions that start in early July will last for a long time. The heart of the heat is expected to be near the center of the continent, but the warm trend has spread across much of the country.
In Quebec, temperatures should be above normal in most areas during the first half of the season. Only communities north of Nunavik could experience a cooler-than-normal turn.
Still hot?
Despite the predominantly warm climate, the atmospheric environment does not carry much heat for long periods of time. Temperatures in southern Quebec often approach 30°C, but rarely reach extremes of 33°C to 35°C.
There may be some chills, but they should usually be short-lived. For now, all indications are that the summer heat will last until the end of the season, and beyond.
Excessive humidity
What can make the heat uncomfortable is the humidity. The strong trend that occasionally appeared in the first half of the season should continue into the second half. This humidity will help you feel more comfortable than the temperature on the thermometer, especially at nighttime temperatures that are mild.
Heavy rainfall in the north-east of the continent in recent weeks has waterlogged the soil and helped maintain more humid air during the dry season.
