The co-owner of an inn in Bas-Saint-Laurent had a unique experience when he caught a tuna weighing almost 500 pounds while staying in the Gaspésie!
Arian April volunteered his staff last week to go fishing for this type of fish.

“I removed my contacts and we succeeded. Labor is hard to come by. Because we were able to offer this to chefs and cooks, they want to come back next year,” the general manager of L’Auberge sur Mer in Notre-Dame-du-Portage told TVA Nouvelles. .

“It’s really incredible (…) I would never have believed it!”, began Julien Allard, the inn’s co-chef.
The transformation of impressive fish required a special system and the help of many people.
“We invited a chef from La Taniere who fishes tuna with the same family. They told us how they did it. It’s our turn to go on an adventure,” said Mrs. April.

Needless to say, tuna will be on the restaurant’s menu in the coming weeks.
A contest will even be organized on social media to invite people to taste the fish.
“We’re going to try to work it completely. What’s interesting about a fish like that is that we’re going to get the flesh even on the cheeks. We’re going to try to have very nice pieces and try to honor this fish,” said Julien Allard.
It should be noted that only fishermen with a commercial bluefin tuna fishing license can catch this fish and there are many regulations to avoid high mortality rates for the species.
