A school bus driver collided with six vehicles

A major emergency deployment has paralyzed the Boulevard du Séminaire since the end of the day today (Wednesday). The driver of a school bus full of students crashed into a line of cars at a red light at the corner of Frontenac Street.

Two people were injured in one of the six cars involved in the accident. Firefighters used their tongs to rescue the victims. Both were taken to the hospital, but their lives were not feared.

At 5:24 p.m., the cumulus piled up to the north. Since then, Boulevard du Séminaire has been closed northbound between Boulevard Gouin and Rue Saint-Georges.

There were many students in the bus when the accident took place. None of them were injured.

The bus driver, an 82-year-old man, has been arrested by the police. He could face hit and run charges because he continued to drive after the impact, causing the injury.

The Saint-Jan-sur-Richelieu police department remains on scene this evening. He requested the cooperation of the Sûreté du Québec to reconstruct the scene.
