A suspicious package forced the A-10 to close at Brochard

On Sunday afternoon, Highway 10 was completely closed to traffic in Brossard after a suspicious package was found under an underpass around Milan Boulevard.

Just after noon, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) and the Ministry of Transport announced the complete closure of the expressway in both directions between Taschereau Boulevard (Route 134) and Highway 30.

The highway was finally reopened around 2 p.m.

The QMI agency was able to see a demining machine from the provincial police picking up a package along Highway 10 on the shoulder of Milan Boulevard.

For its part, SQ did not give reasons for its “police intervention”, limiting itself to stating that it was “invited at the request of Quebec’s Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility for verifications”.

The highway closure caused miles of congestion, snarling traffic on the Champlain Bridge eastbound to Montreal and across the Acadie River westbound.
