Treasury Board President Sonia Lebel announced this on Wednesday, saying she wants to intensify negotiations with new measures, particularly for the health and education sectors.
“I am announcing that from mid-May until the end of the summer we will have serious negotiations on organizing the work. We will provide as many meetings as the unions need to accelerate the pace at the sector tables,” announced Ms. Lebel.
“I am pleased that the government is offering a lump sum of $12,000 to encourage teachers who wish to delay their retirement by a year,” said Education Minister Bernard Trainville.
As for the health sector, Quebec has decided to extend until the end of the summer the bonuses paid to health and social service workers, as well as public service bonuses in effect during the same period.
“Schedule management presents many challenges, but we have to make sure that employees have time off while providing quality care to Quebecers,” said Health Minister Christian Dubé.
