Shots were fired at two people inside a car in Montreal’s Saint-Léonard neighborhood on Saturday evening.
According to Service de Police de la Ville de Montreal (SPVM) spokesman Jean-Pierre Barbant, a call to 911 came in around 11:30 p.m. The event would have taken place in a parking lot located on rue Leonard near rue Belanger in the same borough.
When police arrived at the scene, they first noticed some casings on the ground. With information from witnesses, they were able to locate a vehicle hit by a projectile on rue Jean-Dalon near boulevard Lacourtre. The two people on board were not injured.
According to the same sources, the occupant of the suspect vehicle may have targeted another car in the parking lot. The two drivers then fled the scene.
At the time of writing, the suspected driver has yet to be located by the police.
Two perimeters were set up, one in the parking lot on rue Lienart and the other on rue Jean-Talon where the victim’s vehicle was located. SPVM investigators and forensic identification technicians were called to the scene to examine the scene and better understand the circumstances and causes of the incident.
