ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel hosts The Hollywood Reporter

Jimmy Kimmel will return to the Oscars stage once again.

The ABC late-night host has signed on to host 96y Academy Awards, marking his fourth time in this role. The appointment is no surprise, of course, as Kimmel has decades of experience in live television and a long-standing relationship with Disney.

His announcement comes on the heels of mid-October news that the Academy has hired a production team and a returning director and first-time showrunner in Raj Kapoor, a live TV show and Las Vegas-based producer who has worked on the Academy Awards telecast for the past seven years. Kimmel’s wife Jimmy Kimmel LiveCo-writer Molly McInerney also returned as executive producer of the telecast.

Although there have been rumblings about the possibility of the Oscars being rescheduled during the dark days of Hollywood’s double-takes, such a thing is no longer necessary and the best talent in town is already back in full campaign mode. Many people seek to make up for lost time. In fact, Kimmel’s ABC show is poised to capitalize on the parade of hungry celebrities to promote this year’s Oscar nominees.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! He was off the air for the duration of the writers’ strike, though Kimmel himself maintained a presence through the popular “Strike Force Five” podcast with his fellow late-night hosts. Proceeds from the latter went to out-of-work show employees. Kimmel revealed in one episode that he was “pretty determined to retire” before the strike, but he officially returned to Disney last year and will continue his show on ABC through Season 23.
