Accused of assault in the United States: A fake refugee escapes justice … via Roxham Road

An American citizen who allegedly sexually assaulted a teenager has been in hiding in Quebec for four years.

“He was able to enter Canada without his passport, he had to surrender in court in the state of Georgia where he was charged,” we can read at the request of an American lawyer seeking the deportation of Uchenna Ebigbo?

Epicbo, 37, has been a resident of Saint-Hubert on the south coast of Montreal since 2018. He was well established in a residential area, waiting for refugee status.

Except in the United States, he was wanted in the state of Georgia for alleged sexual misconduct in 2017.

Sexual relations

By then, he would have called himself a 14-year-old girl. The mother is said to have taken advantage of the absence and repeatedly touched the man who tried to push her away. Epicpo would have even pushed the note to take a picture together.

The young man finally agreed to hug the accused, hoping he would leave later. It worked because Epicpo was out. The victim called his mother and she immediately contacted the police.

Epicpo was eventually arrested for the crime of sexual assault. He was, however, released on bail and fled to Quebec via Roxham Road. His passport was confiscated by the court and he applied for asylum as a refugee.

“Border Services released him on parole,” read court documents filed in Montreal court.

Epicpo’s asylum application was rejected in 2020, but he appealed the case. Meanwhile, US authorities have located him.

Send him back

They now want to deport him to the United States as soon as possible because he is a Nigerian citizen and he is in danger of being deported to this African country where there is no extradition treaty with the United States.

“If his appeal is a request [de réfugié au Canada] Denied, Epicpo is in danger of exiting again, US documents indicate. If he escapes to Nigeria, he is less likely to be deported to the United States for trial. ⁇

Epicpo will later return to Montreal Court for his extradition hearing. He was released on parole pending further action.
