(LAVAL) Police forces in Quebec and Ontario are searching for victims in a case involving a former teacher facing indecent assault charges dating back more than 40 years.
According to the Laval City Police Service (SPL), Ronald Angelo Cecchini, 70, was arrested in June for sexually assaulting a minor in the early 1980s.
Mr. Cecchini was a teacher at an English elementary school in Laval’s Somedi district from 1979 to 1982, police said.
Police alleged that he used his power to have sexual relations with the victim.
SPL says several incidents have been reported over the years, and investigators believe the victims may be different.
Mr. Cecchini also taught in Ontario, and Halton Regional Police on Friday asked anyone west of Toronto or elsewhere in Ontario with information about the victims to contact police.
The indecent assault case will be heard again on November 8.
