American Idol 2023: Who took the top three spots? Who are the top 3 singers?

“American Idol” has officially reduced the competition to three.

On Sunday night, the show eliminated two contestants and revealed the top three singers of the season. Here’s a look at who stays in the competition.

Who are the top 3 singers on American Idol 2023?

Iam Tongan

The audition for “American Idol” by Iam Tonji was the most watched of the season – by a landslide. It was posted just over two months ago, and it already has 15 million views on YouTube. For his audition, 18-year-old Tongi, who is from Hawaii, performed James Blunt’s “Monsters” and dedicated the performance to his father, who had died two months before the audition.

With emotion, Tonji told the “Idol” judges that his father was the reason he got into music. He carried his emotions into his performance, and had judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan cry with his performance of the song.

I am not your son, you are not my father

We are just two grown men saying goodbye

No need to forgive, no need to forget

I know your mistakes and you know mine

And while you’re asleep, I’ll try to make you proud

So, dad, won’t you just close your eyes?

Fear not, it’s my turn to chase the monsters away

Tonji choked when he got to his last note – but he had already convinced the judges that he would be a strong contender in the “Idol” competition.

“It struck a chord, and that’s what great storytellers do,” said Katy Perry. “It’s what great artists do, and your voice is so amazing.”

Brian added, “I can’t stand your heart breaking because of your father.” “Just seeing you miss your dad is upsetting. My God, man, you just got such a great voice. … You did everything so perfectly, and I love you.”

“You take this out into the world and it will break some souls,” Richie said.

After the audition, Tonji spoke with the producers about how he and his father related to music, and how his father had always wanted him to audition for “American Idol”.

“People thought I was crying because I missed him,” said Tonge, “but it’s because I can hear him sing — I can hear his harmonies.” “I know he is with me. Through my music he will always be with me.”

Megan Daniel

Megan Danielle, 20-year-old singer from Georgia, got the surprise of her life when she auditioned for “Idol” with Lauren Daigle “You Say”: Daigle, formerly of “Idol”, ended up joining her audition and always singing.

During her audition, Danielle, who works at a Southern restaurant with her mother, told the “Idol” judges that she had a band when she was 18 and often performed at bars. But one day, she said, her grandfather pulled her aside and asked how she could use her talent to serve God, and the singer decided to switch to performing Christian music.

With Daigle by her side, Danielle received feedback from the judges, who praised her originality. Specifically, Brian said, Danielle had “real honesty and sass.”

Danielle previously participated in “The Voice”, after she was eliminated during the semi-finals in the eighteenth season.

Colin Staff

From small-town Mississippi, 18-year-old Colin Staff landed on the “Idol” judging panel for one main reason: His mom signed him up to audition for the show.

Staff – who hopes to put the small town of Gutman, Mississippi, on the map – wowed all the judges with his performance of “Simple Guy” by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Then his mother, who was standing outside the room during the performance, came in and told the judges more about her son. She said that Staff asked for his first guitar when he was in fifth grade — and now their house is overflowing with guitars.

All the judges thanked Staff’s mother for her son’s signature.

“Colin is exactly what we hope and dream about on American Idol,” Brian said. “Someone that’s just raw, real, down-to-earth.”
