Android 13 is likely to be released in September

Along with the August 2022 security bulletin, Google today published the “Android 13 Security Release Notes”, and suggests that the next major release of the mobile operating system will be released in September.

These release notes Detailing “Vulnerabilities affecting Android devices that are addressed as part of Android 13.” Google lists CVE 107 across Android Runtime, Framework, Media Framework, Package, Platform (listed twice for some reason), and system.

Meanwhile, the security patch level 2022-09-01 indicates that Android 13 will come in September, although this may just be the launch of the AOSP (Android Open Source Project).

Android 13 devices with security patch level 2022-09-01 or later are protected against these issues (Android 13, as released in the AOSP, will have a default security patch level 2022-09-01).

However, this level of security does not necessarily indicate when the Pixel was released. Last year, Android 12 was released to AOSP in early OctoberAnd the Pixel update hasn’t even started After two weeks.

Android 13 is already notable for the start of the public-facing Beta program earlier than usual. There were only two developer previews, and the first beta was released a month before the I/O 2022 conference. The last month that Google indicated was July beta 4Some believe that the “final version” of Android 13 will be released as early as August.

As of this morning, Google has not yet released the August 12 Android security patch, but it should be Coming for Pixel. Meanwhile, Google told us last week that the Pixel 6a will get Latest Android 13 Beta.
