Apple announced on Thursday that it will release a standalone app called Classic Apple Musicwhich will be available at no additional cost to existing Apple Music subscribers, on March 28.

Apple said the catalog will include more than five million unique tracks and thousands of exclusive albums at launch. Many classic tracks have been recorded and released, but Apple says the standalone app will offer “complete and accurate metadata” and the ability to “search by composer, work, conductor, or even catalog number,” according to the release.

The company acquired the Primephonic classical music streaming device in August 2021. At the time, Apple said subscribers would “get a significantly enhanced classical music experience starting with Primephonic playlists and exclusive audio content.”

Internet connection is required to use Apple Music Classical.

The company said an Android version will be released “soon”.
