Two men suspected of involvement in the attempted murder of Leonardo Rizzuto in March were arrested on Monday morning by the National Organized Crime Unit (ENRCO).
The two suspects, Kevin Rosebrun and Steve Emmanuel Barthelemy, have been detained by police and the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) have already made arrests in the case.
Rosebrun, 32, had already been sentenced to three years in prison after an attack on Montreal mobster Marco Bizzi.
A man linked to the gang had already been arrested in Moscow last April in connection with the attempted murder of Rizzuto. However, he was acquitted. The 30-year-old recently attended the funeral of mafia boss Francesco del Palso. The latter was arrested at Montreal-Trudeau Airport in connection with the attempt. He was subsequently murdered.
The two accomplices are expected to appear in a Laval court in the morning to face charges of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Leonardo Rizzuto, 53, was shot while driving his black Mercedes SUV on Highway 440 West. The incident occurred on March 15 around 4:30 p.m. A man in a black Porsche Magan reportedly fired several shots at the victim’s car.
