Serafino Oliverio, or Sergio Lopez, 69, was injured in an assassination attempt Wednesday afternoon in the Rivière-des-Prairies neighborhood in Montreal.
The Montreal City Police Department has announced that the life of a 60-year-old man who sustained a leg injury is not in danger. He is currently in the hospital surrounded by relatives.
The 911 call was made at 4:30 p.m. Police, who arrived at the scene, found out ⁇ Several envelopes ”as well as one of the vehicles parked at the Boulevard Gouin Est were hit by the bullet, the SPVM said.
A man was later admitted to hospital with gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Investigators and forensic identification technicians were dispatched to inspect the scene. The perimeter wall of the campus is set up.
Serafino Oliverio is considered by police to be the leader of the Montreal Mafia clan with a strong presence in northern Montreal, where its members own several bars and other businesses.
Between 2013 and 2015, during the Magot-Mastiff trial, the Lopez-Oliverio clan always conducted its business prudently, before attracting the attention of Sûreté du Québec investigators.
The three brothers, Franco, Giuseppe and Pascual Lopez, who are believed to be Serafino Oliverio’s nephews, were charged with supplying cocaine to a smuggler in the Hocelaka-Mizonou district while not in custody during the investigation. But, they later benefited by stopping the activities.
Serafino Oliverio has no criminal history.
