Back to School: Customers love to shop

This is the last blitz for parents who need to get school supplies for their children back to school.

The day before classes start, stores are always full of families shopping for the perfect portfolio and perfect pencil, but most parents have gotten ahead of themselves this year, notes Claude Lessard, owner of Papeterie de l’East. .

“I have a fraction of clients who are better than themselves because they experienced last year’s rush,” he insists. “So, they came earlier, and that’s fortunate for us because it allows us to better serve them.”

According to a recent survey conducted by the Retail Council of Canada, nearly 40% of respondents plan to make their purchases two to four weeks before the start of the school year, an increase of 10% from last year.

Although the pandemic has pushed consumers toward online shopping, nearly three-quarters of those surveyed prefer to buy school supplies through stationery.

“I want to see the product,” says one customer interviewed by TVA Nouvelles. “And if you ever have a question, they know everything you need, so I love that and her [sa fille] It wants to choose.”
