Barack Obama Reveals His Music and Book Recommendations for Summer 2024

Like his Democratic running mate Kamala Harris, Barack Obama is having a “summer of misery.”

The former president shared the songs he’s been listening to this summer for his annual summer playlist, which It was revealed on Instagram. on monday.

Charli XCX, whose latest album “Brat” sparked the “naughty summer” trend on social media, was among the names included in her song “365.” Vice President Harris, who is running for president in 2024, also recently embraced the “naughty summer” trend in her online campaign.

Other singers who made the list include country singer Shaboozie (“A Bar Song (Tipsy)), pop star Billie Eilish (“Chihiro”) and hip-hop singer Tommy Richman (“Million Dollar Baby”). Previous favorites 2Pac and The Rolling Stones also earned spots on the list.

“As summer comes to a close, I wanted to share with you some of the songs I’ve been listening to lately — and these wouldn’t be on my playlist if they didn’t include an eclectic mix,” Obama wrote. “I hope you find something new to listen to!”

Barack Obama Shares ‘Great Books’ by Percival Everett, Jonathan Blitzer, and More

For his book selections, Obama highlighted a range of works, from satirical novels to hard-hitting nonfiction.

Percival Everett James,A reimagining of Mark Twain’s classic novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Everett has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2022.

Obama also chose “All Who Left Here: The United States, Central America, and the Making of Crisis”A book by Jonathan Blitzer, which takes a comprehensive look at the illegal immigration crisis on the US-Mexico border.
