Be warned, your phones and televisions will ring loudly at 1:55 p.m.
The Ministry of Public Security is conducting a new test of Quebec en Alerte to ensure that the system is working properly.
Québec En Alerte aims to quickly inform Quebecers when an event that presents a “real or imminent threat to the life or safety” of the population occurs, in order to better help them protect themselves.
We report that this warning is linked to risks associated with “explosion or contamination by hazardous materials, natural and climatic disasters such as hurricanes and wildfires, or armed threats.”
Whether on your phones, tablets or televisions, the message broadcast by the Ministry of Public Security in French and English indicates the behaviors to follow to minimize the possible consequences of the event.
In addition, the test allows people to check the compatibility of their mobile device before an actual emergency occurs.
Québec En Alerte also makes it possible to broadcast AMBER alerts with the aim of quickly identifying a child at risk.
To receive an alert, your cell phone must be compatible and connected to an LTE network at the time the alert is issued.
