Caitlin Clark Makes New WNBA History With Win Over Connecticut Sun in Indiana Fever

Caitlin Clark made WNBA history, setting a record for the most three-pointers made by a rookie in a single season during the Indiana Fever’s 84-80 win over the Connecticut Sun.

Clarke hit her 86th three-pointer of the season in the first quarter. Exceeded the previous record Atlanta Dreams’ Ryan Howard had 85 of those in 2022. She added two more from deep later in the game to bring her total this season to 88.

The 22-year-old had 19 points, five rebounds and five assists as the Fever snapped an 11-game losing streak against the Sun — Indiana has lost all three of its games against the Sun this season and has not beaten Connecticut since July 3, 2021, according to the WNBA.

Indiana moved to 15-16 with the win as it continued its quest for a postseason berth, while Connecticut fell to 22-8. Dijonay Carrington led the Suns with 19 points and six steals, and Alyssa Thomas added 17 points, six rebounds and six assists.

According to the WNBAThe official attendance inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indiana was 17,274 fans, as the Fever set a WNBA attendance record of more than 500,000 total fans at home and away games throughout the season.

Among the fans inside the arena were two great athletes. Olympic gold medalists for Team USA Simone Biles and Gabe Thomas Meet with the players after the game.
