WWE has always tended to overdo it all, taking something cool and making it decidedly unpleasant. This was usually done by hitting you in the head with the good thing until it was no longer the case.
There was a fear, then, that Triple H might turn wild as the 25th anniversary of D-Generation X celebrates in Monday Night Raw In Brooklyn this week. But that’s not what happened at all.
They’ve been given some behind-the-scenes clips of some of their tricks, and it’s been toned down to better match both their ages and the TV show we got from WWE in 2022. There were some swearing, some hilarious banter, a double goodbye or two, and even the road booked by Doug and Sean. Michaels has a match between The Miz and Dexter Loomis next week.
Finally, come to the main part of the action, they made their way to the ring with about 10 minutes left in the show.
X-Pac gave Chyna a classy shout-out, calling her the main ingredient that made DX’s recipe work.
The Road Dogg performed his role, allowing fans to deliver his lines screaming Bad Ass Billy Gunn. Incidentally, Corey Graves had a great line on how to “do something with office equipment these days”.
Triple H joked about needing to catch his breath to make the intro bit “Let’s get ready to suck it up.”
Hassan ol’ HBK has made a joke about not letting them do this in another 25 years, but they still only have two words for us.
They didn’t take much time, were incredibly self-aware, and everyone had a little fun hearing the entrance music and seeing the boys together again.
Played well all around.
