The incident took place around 11:30 pm on the way to church. The driver of the vehicle was about to flee the scene when officers arrived.
“The 30-year-old man is refusing to be arrested and resisting arrest. At the police station, he refuses to provide a breath sample,” said Sergeant Carl Tremblay of the Saguenay Police Department.
But the difficult communication between the parties did not stop there. The suspect allegedly obstructed officers and threatened them with death.
He will eventually be released on conditions but will face charges of obstruction, menacing, impaired driving and refusing to provide breath samples.
Two others were arrested for driving more than twice the legal blood alcohol limit overnight between Saturday and Sunday.
