Chappelle Rowan doesn’t feel any different about her art now that she’s a household name.

The 26-year-old singer, who released her single “Hot to Go” – which drew bigger crowds than ever over the summer and saw her music climb Billboard Charts first time – shared in new Interview Magazine Conversation with Saturday Night Live Star Bowen Yang said on Monday, August 19, that even with her newfound fame, she “never cared about music charts or being on the radio.”

“The biggest thing that’s happened to me is being recognized, feeling like I’m not myself,” Rowan (real name Kylie Amstutz) said. “Touring is all-consuming. I’ve never cared about the labels or being on the radio, but it’s crazy that the industry is taking me more seriously than I used to. I feel like I do this all the time, bitch.”

Rowan album 2023 The Rise and Fall of a Midwestern Princess Currently ranked third on the Billboard Her latest single “Good Luck Baby!” also debuted at number six on the Hot 100. Additionally, her songs “Hot to Go!”, “Pink Pony Club”, “Red Wine Supernova”, “Casual”, “Femininomenon” and “My Kink Is Karma” have all appeared on the Hot 100 in recent weeks.

Speaking to Yang, Roan explained that her career “doesn’t mean anything more now that I have a popular album and song.”

“If anything, I just say, ‘Go to hell guys because you don’t see what’s really important,’” she added. “Schemes are fleeting. Everybody leaves schemes. I just say, ‘This is the first giveaway.’”

As for how much things have changed in Rowan’s career in recent months, the pop star made it clear in interview She said she ultimately “never expected it to grow to this extent.”

“I feel like I hit my peak two years ago. At the time, I was like, ‘I sold out the Bowery Ballroom and this is crazy.’ It was great to be playing bigger shows, opening for Olivia [Rodrigo]“But everything now is really just icing on the cake,” she said, adding that she feels “so supported” as she “trys to channel” her rising star. “Because I’ve never been anything but myself. I’m really happy that the person I have, the drag version, is still very much me.”

“My career has been successful because I did it my way, and I didn’t compromise on ethics and time,” she later said. “I didn’t give in to pressure. Like, ‘Bitch, I’m not going to do a deal with a brand if I don’t feel it’s right. I don’t care how much you pay me.’ That’s why I can sleep at night.”

After Rowan recently revealed that she felt overwhelmed by her huge success in TikTok is back in JuneShe received a warm welcome from Adele just last week. During her concert in Munich on Wednesday, August 14, the multiple Grammy winner told her audience that she had recently “went down a rabbit hole” and discovered Rowan’s music, calling it “amazing.”

“It turns out she doesn’t just sing one song, she sings about seven amazing songs,” Adele said. “I think she’s absolutely amazing. I’m so excited for her, but my friend also said she’s a little bit scared. So, do what you gotta do, baby, but you’re amazing.”

“Anyway, all I did this week was discover Chappell Roan.”

Over the next two months, Rowan is set to continue her “Femininomenon” musical career, performing in Germany, France, Manchester, London, Forest Hills (New York) and other locations.
