A 70-year-old man was ejected from his tractor and lost his life during an unfortunate incident in Saint-Urbain in Charlevoix on Sunday morning.
Around 10 a.m., the septuagenarian was traveling on his tractor down a curved slope when he came into contact with a guardrail on the rue Saint-Paul. The machine rolled over several times before ejecting the man.
As soon as they arrived at the scene, the first responders had to transport the injured to the hospital center in an emergency, explains Béatrice Dorsainville of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). However, he was pronounced dead later that day.
The victim was 70-year-old Louis-Joseph-Paul Tremblay, a resident of Saint-Urbain.
An investigation has been opened to definitively determine the cause and circumstances of the incident and the department involved has been closed to traffic to allow officers to examine the scene.
“We are going to request a mechanical examination of the tractor, but the reasons why the collision took place are not clear,” said M.me Torzainville.
