Winter cold will return as a major snowstorm hits much of Quebec Wednesday evening.
The mercury will actually touch -10 degrees Celsius in parts of the southern province, which compares favorably with the balmy temperatures at the start of the week.
Meanwhile, temperatures will remain in the normal range on Tuesday, where snow is expected in parts of southern Quebec without heavy accumulations.
According to Environment Canada, which issued a special weather report, accumulations of 15 to 25 centimeters are expected in Greater Montreal, Quebec City and Estrie.
Strong winds could disrupt the game, with snow gusts of up to 50 km/h at times and reduced visibility on roads, according to the federal agency’s forecasts.
The storm will intensify in parts of eastern Quebec on Thursday morning, where up to 30 centimeters of snow is expected, particularly along the Gaspé and the North Shore.
In both these regions, an episode of freezing rain cannot be ruled out on Thursday evening when strong and gusty winds will produce snow.
