Costco reports that 48,000 people may develop mold

Costco recalled 48,000 mattresses Due to mold growth reported by more than 500 customers, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall only applies to people who purchased the Novaform ComfortGrande 14-inch and Novaform DreamAway 8-inch mattresses this year.

The mattresses were sold exclusively at Costco stores in the San Francisco Bay Area, throughout the greater Northwest and on the retailer’s website. These high-quality mattresses have been carefully priced to range from $150 to $750, ensuring excellent value at an affordable price.

Mold may have grown in the mattress due to exposure to water during manufacturing. According to the CPSC, this may put individuals with weakened immune systems, damaged lungs, or mold allergies at risk for health problems.

If you currently own one of the recalled mattresses, your next step is to contact the manufacturer, FXI. According to the CPSC, FXI offers customers a full refund or free replacement.

If you decide to go for an exchange, the company will deliver the new mattress to you at no cost and will tow the old mattress for free.

To obtain a refund or exchange, consumers should call FXI at (888) 886-2057 between 8am and 8pm ET, Monday through Friday, to speak with a customer service representative.

To determine if your mattress is included in the recall, FXI advised checking the law mark. The legal tag will identify whether your ComfortGrande or DreamAway model was manufactured at FXI’s San Bernardino, California, plant between January 2019 and 2019. April 2 and 30 for ComfortGrande and between January 2 and April 30. April 30 and 30 for the DreamAway model.
