A man responsible for the death of a cyclist in Estrey last October has been charged with hit and run and dangerous driving on Friday instead of his wife.
Bruno Boisvert Dallaire appeared in Sherbrooke court on Friday morning. He is said to have hacked cyclist Sébastien Filteau on the evening of October 15, 2021 on Laliberté Road near the rue de l’Alcôve junction in the Saint-lie sector, Sherbrook.
Bruno Boiseward Duller’s wife told police at the time that he was the driver of the vehicle. However, the trial will prove the opposite.
The victim, a 36-year-old father of a four-month-old baby girl, died the next day with injuries. Eyewitnesses said that at the time of the accident, the driver was traveling at a high speed and was trying to overtake the vehicle which was going slowly in front of him.
It did not stop and the suspicious vehicle was found a few hours later. The 34-year-old was also charged with public misconduct on Friday.
Background
Bruno Boiseward Dollar’s spouse may have lied because of his background to cover up the accused. The suspect has a history of really weak driving, but above all, he was convicted in 2019 in a road rage-related case.
He chased another motorist, blocked the way and smashed his window.
This is why the government opposes his release.
For his part, the 27-year-old woman was later released on a promise to appear at a later date and could be charged with complicity after the fact and obstructing the work of the police. She may have lied to protect the accused.
