Dornoch crossed the finish line first in the Belmont Stakes on Saturday night, the race being held for the first time at Saratoga Springs in New York, 200 miles north of Belmont Park, which is undergoing renovation.

Although the two champions lined up at the start on Saturday, Sierra Leone was the pre-race favorite for the Belmont Stakes.
The 3-year-old was one of the horses involved in the Derby’s dramatic photo finish, finishing second behind Mystic Dan after eventually breaking free from a crowded group.
