‘Dune: Part 2’: Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya return to Arrakis in first official trailer

(CNN) Prepare to be transferred back to Desert planet Arrakis in the new “Dune: Part Two” trailer, Where Paul Atreides (Timothy Chalamet) and Shani (Zendaya) were finally together.

The first official look at the long-awaited sequel to the omnibus sci-fi action series based on Frank Herbert’s acclaimed 1965 novel debuted Wednesday, quenching viewers’ thirst for new “Dune” content after the show. The first movie will be released in October 2021.

Director Denis Villeneuve promised the audience during the presentation of Warner Bros. Studios at CinemaCon last week that Dune: Part II is an “action-packed” and “epic war movie,” following the “contemplative” nature of the first film. By the looks of the trailer, his words ring true. (Warner Bros. Studios and CNN are part of Warner Bros. Discovery.)

Timothée Chalamet in “Dune: Part Two.”

Chalamet and Zendaya are seen together in the trailer picking up right where they left off in the deep desert lands of Arrakis, as they navigate their characters’ love for each other while preparing for the impending war.

“We really see Paul Atreides becoming a leader here,” Chalamet said at CinemaCon, after explaining that the first film saw his character more through a “student” lens.

We get a glimpse in the blue-eyed Atreides trailer, a transformation caused by his use of Spice, the planet’s most valuable commodity that bestows mystical powers on its user. We even got treated to clips of Atreides climbing a giant sandworm, and sharing a special kiss with Chani.

The trailer also shows a slew of new characters.

Rebecca Ferguson in “Dune: Part Two.”

There’s the fearsome (and balding) Austin Butler As Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, a ruthless warlord competes with Glossu Rabban Harkonnen (Dave Bautista) to take over the role of ruler of Arrakis – like a futuristic version of the “caliphate”.

Florence Pugh is also seen as Princess Irulan, who is a narrator of sorts in the novel and is the daughter of Christopher Walken’s Emperor Shaddam IV, overlord of the entire galaxy.

Javier Bardem, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Rampling, and Josh Brolin reprise their characters from 2021’s “Dune,” appearing in the new film alongside newcomers Lea Seydoux, Tim Blake Nelson, and Suheila Yacoub.

Dune: Part Two will hit theaters on November 3.
