Eden Hazard is set to leave Real Madrid.

Sources from the club’s Valdebebas training ground and Hazard’s entourage, who spoke on condition of anonymity to protect relations, confirmed the player’s imminent departure to the athlete.

An official announcement could come as soon as Saturday evening.

Hazard is scheduled to bid farewell to the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, when Real Madrid plays against Athletic in his last match in the Spanish League.

Hazard has a contract until 2024 and hopes to stay, but Real Madrid wanted him to leave and there was an agreement for his departure.

It is understood that retirement is an option for the former Chelsea player, but that decision has yet to be made.

The Belgium international joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in the summer of 2019 becoming the most expensive signing in the club’s history in the process.

Numerous injury problems restricted Hazard to being a simple player at the club and the former Lille winger struggled to settle in at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Hazard’s season has been hampered by injuries, as he has made just six La Liga appearances this season, ten in all competitions.

The forward, who has scored just one goal and provided two assists in this campaign, retired from international football last December after Belgium were knocked out of the 2022 World Cup in the group stage.

Since joining the club in 2019, Hazard has made 76 appearances in total, scoring seven goals and providing 12 assists.
