A 17-year-old boy was arrested after fleeing police 15 minutes earlier in the Beauport department of Quebec after a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning.
Officers of the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) were first called to intervene on Boulevard Louis-XIV at 10:15 a.m. for a motorist who behaved in a manner comparable to an intoxicated person.
Near the scene, police observed a vehicle matching the description, a red Toyota RAV4.
They tried to intercept the car, but its driver quickly fled, and officers lost it in the fog.
The suspect was located around 10:30 a.m. when emergency services were called to the collision at the intersection of Anick Street and Raymond Boulevard.
However, authorities noted that the teenager was not intoxicated, but the SUV was stolen during the night.
No one was seriously injured in the accident.
A juvenile suspect is also at large, officials said.
Taking into account the entire situation, workers from the Youth Protection Department took him into custody and took care of him.
