After waking up to a white system on Sunday, the eastern part of the province will now offer wintry landscapes across Quebec. As of Wednesday, around ten centimeters of snow is expected in many parts of the province.
Environment and Climate Change Canada predicts 5 to 10 centimeters of snow in the south of the province, 10 to 15 centimeters in central Quebec, and up to 25 centimeters in Estrie and Beauce. However, the federal agency cautions that “scales may change depending on the system’s trajectory.”
A “winter storm” warning has also been issued for the northern Gaspe Peninsula, while 15 to 25 centimeters of snow is expected on Thursday. The weather system is expected to reach the region on Wednesday evening and hit the northern coast the following day.
Since Sunday evening, several centimeters of snow have already piled up on roads in eastern Quebec. Some sectors have lost power, particularly in Bas-Saint-Laurent. Last Monday saw up to 25 centimeters of snow in Temiskovata and Parque National de la Caspési.
Provide winter tires
Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a warning to motorists, specifically to “check the weather before heading out” and install winter tires.
By the way, drivers have up to 1R December to get winter tires. Otherwise, they could be fined between $200 and $300, according to Transports Quebec.
Up to 10 centimeters of snow is expected to cover Greater Montreal streets on Wednesday. Environment Canada also warned that it could have a “significant impact on rush-hour traffic in urban areas.”
The Sûreté du Québec advised on social networks, “Be sure to adapt your driving to the weather conditions, be slow and patient.”
