Between Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl’s past lives with Nirvana and New Fooss drummer Josh freezeIt’s time with acts like new wave band Devo and industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees have some serious rock cred.
So it came as a surprise when the band brought out Canadian singer Michael Bublé for a snippet of the singer’s 2009 song “I Haven’t Met You Yet,” during the headline at Outside Lands on Saturday, August 12.
Well, it’s not much of a surprise to hardcore fans who know Freese’s resume, which included playing drums on Bublé’s fourth studio album, “Crazy Love,” of which the love song was the first single released.
And the surprises did not stop there. During the band’s two-hour stint, Grohl brought up his daughter Violet to the band’s 2021 song “Shame, Shame,” as well as their latest single, “Show Me How.” The latter is dedicated to Grohl’s late mother and longtime drummer Taylor Hawkinswho died last year of a sudden heart attack.
