Denis Goderre is the official candidate for the leadership of the Liberal Party of Quebec Believes the future of the nation rests on immigration and accuses François Legault of falling into an identity-based nationalism.
“No more immigrants. Immigration is work! I truly believe that immigration is the key to our nation’s future,” the aspiring liberal leader insisted at a press conference Friday in front of the National Assembly.
Montreal’s former mayor and former federal minister condemned recent statements by Premier Legault, who blamed “100%” of Quebec’s housing problems on temporary immigrants.
“When I look at this identity-based nationalism, we don’t see Maurice Duplessis, it’s Lionel Croulx! It will do!, scolded Denise Goderre. As we walk around La Pocatière, you won’t convince me that housing problems are caused by immigration.
Experience and spaghetti dinners
Surrounded by some former Liberal MPs such as Raymond Bernier and Norbet Morin, he presented himself as the best choice for the PLQ because of his long track record in politics.
“I’ve been through crises, I know game, he emphasized. I have experienced parties that were in the field only to rebound and come back to power.
Judging that he does not need publicity because of his popularity, Denis Koder prefers to stay on the ground and listen to citizens. He will also tour Quebec, during which he plans to host a “spaghetti feast” at each of the 125 rides.
The threat of “separatism” and a third referendum on sovereignty convinced him to return to politics.
Denis Coderre, who runs in the riding of Bellessass on Quebec’s south coast, is in favor of a 3rd link to the river. But he did not know what form the infrastructure would take and where this new road link between the national capital and Lewes would run.
