Almost every major Android update that Google pushes seems to have some sort of issue initially, and last month’s Android 14 rollout was no different. For some people with multiple user accounts on their devices, there may be an “out of space” error, or, more egregiously, their devices will get stuck in a reboot loop after applying the update.
This is not ideal, to say the least. Google is today rolling out the November Android update for supported Pixel devices, and thankfully the bug that caused the above issues has now been fixed. The issue occurred on multiple devices, as it turns out: Pixel 6, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro.
Apart from this, the update also includes fixes for an issue that causes a green flash when the screen turns off under certain circumstances (on the Pixel 7 Pro), one causing NFC instability, and another causing system instability when one app requests another app that is no longer installed, It’s an issue that sometimes causes desktop icons to disappear when unlocked, an issue that causes the wallpaper to be misaligned on devices with a notch or hole, and finally an issue that causes the screen to shake when touch registration becomes inaccurate (on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro).
Google says the rollout will take a week to reach all devices in the wild. Checkout is done in stages, which depends on the carrier and device. The new build number is UP1A.231105.001 for Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, and Pixel 5a 5G, UD1A.231105.004 for Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, and UP1A.231105.003 for all other supported devices.
