After recently confirming that the GTA 6 release date would not be affected by the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) strike, there’s more good news for Grand Theft Auto fans. In a recent earnings call, Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, shed light on GTA 6’s release plans. With fans worried that the game would be delayed until 2026, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors that the upcoming open-world crime game is still on track for a fall 2025 release date. “The Grand Theft Auto series has exceeded our expectations, with momentum continuing to build ahead of the fall 2025 launch of Grand Theft Auto VI,” Take-Two said in a statement. Unfortunately, however, it’s not all good news, especially for Grand Theft Auto fans on Xbox.
With Call of Duty Black Ops 6 launching on Game Pass on day one, Zelnick was asked if consumer habits would change and how that would impact Take-Two’s plans going forward.
Talk to gaming industryDay-one releases will only have short-term benefits for subscription services, Zelnick said.
“I think offering a premium priced title in a subscription service and day and date will drive consumers to that subscription service for a while at least,” Zelnick said.
It goes without saying that Zelnick and Take-Two have absolutely no plans to change their minds about the possibility of releasing GTA 6 for subscription services at launch.
“No, it doesn’t affect our decisions,” Zelnick continued. “Because our decisions are rational.”

Grand Theft Auto 6 takes place in Leonidas, which is located in the state of Florida.
Rockstar explains: “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to Leonida, home to the neon-filled streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest and most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”
The trailer lets fans take a look at some of the map’s locations as seen from the sky above. This includes locations based on the Florida Keys, as well as a beach and more.
Hopefully we’ll get a better look at the locations, as well as some gameplay, in the next GTA 6 trailer, which is rumored to be released on October 4.
