343 Industries has revealed its planned roadmap for 2022 for Halo Infinite, and it includes a late August release window for the much-anticipated co-op campaign.
All the details were revealed by Halo Infinite Chief Creative Officer Joseph Statin road halo, And while they are subject to change, they do provide a good picture of what Halo Infinite fans can expect for the rest of the year. 343 also notes that the timeframe “will expand as we announce longer-term initiatives” and that the “roadmap is an evolving document.”
The roadmap begins with a focus on Lone Wolves Season 2, which will run from May 3 to November 7. We already knew that Season 2 would begin with 100 new Battle Pass levels, two new maps in Catalyst (Arena) and Breaker (BTB), and three new game modes in King of the Hill, Land Grab, and Last Spartan Standing.
What has been clarified a bit are some of the new events and features that will arrive during the Lone Wolves Trail. These include a network co-op in late August and a Forge Open Beta in September. These release windows are goals and may change, but they put their development progress in clearer view.
As for Forge, 343 decided to abandon “a large-scale, official flight program and go directly to open beta.” Once released, it will not disappear and will continue to develop and grow over time.
Season 2 will also include the new Fracture mode in “Entrenched” – with its first week beginning on May 24 – two narrative events in the overlap from May 3 to May 16 and an alpha bundle from July 19 – August 1. “Put your Spartan in the middle of an evolving seasonal story.”
343 also took a brief look at what fans can expect from the currently untitled third season, which begins on November 8. It will bring with it a new Battle Pass, maps, modes, sandbox items, narrative events, a breakout event, and a split screen for the co-op campaign.
The lack of consistent content was also addressed, with 343 saying he was well aware he needed to do more, but wouldn’t do so at the expense of his team’s health.
“We know we need to deliver more content and more features faster,” 343 wrote. “honesty [a] priority zero [of team health] It means that sometimes we need to slow down in order to stay healthy and move faster later. But we’re also seriously looking at ways to speed up.”
In closing, 343 shared that he will be releasing “Drop Pods” for quality-of-life fixes as they’re ready – probably once a month – and that he’ll be taking a deep dive into more about season two and the roadmap on April 27 at 1PM PT/4PM ET/9 Evening GMT.
