A Levis man faces seven counts of exhibitionism, indecent acts and harassment of the alleged victims, who were between the ages of 9 and 12. The suspect is believed to have been active in Portneuf County in early July, but the investigation is ongoing.
Kevin Despiens, 26, was officially charged in a Quebec court on Tuesday.
According to the indictment, the man allegedly behaved inappropriately with the children on July 5 and 9 in Pont-Rouge and Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier.
During the first incident, the individual molested three children and then engaged in indecent acts. Later, on a second occasion, he allegedly did it again against three other minors, exposing his genitalia.
Chosen at random
The attorney in the case, Kevin Despiens, opposed the release, noting that the investigation is still ongoing.
“A police force is still looking into the investigation and there may be victims elsewhere than in the Portneuf area,” underlined Me Laura Plamonton-Dufour.
When Judge Desbiens asked if he recognized the initials listed in the no-contact order he had just issued, the accused indicated he did not know them.
According to some reports, the accused chose his targets randomly while traveling in a vehicle.
Already accused of sexual assault
In Sherbrooke and Montmagny counties, the offender was already charged with sexual assault and did not have a first encounter with the law.
He pleaded guilty in the first case last January and is scheduled to be sentenced this Friday.
On the Montmagny side, Desbiens initially pleaded not guilty, and his case is due to return to a post in September.
Both cases involved minor complainants, the public prosecutor notes.
