Chloé Lachance-Gauthier, of Saint-Agapit, pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempted murder in a Quebec court.
During the summer, the 30-year-old woman and her co-accused, Jonathan LaCourcier, decided to carry out a plan that had been developed a few years earlier.
Crown attorney Me Fabian Villemaire explains in a summary of the facts filed in court.
Chloé Lachance-Gauthier had to serve her mother a glass of orange juice with morphine. Her partner plans to take advantage of the woman’s “altered state” to break into her house, rape and murder her, and then leave the place with his personal property.
On July 4, the 30-year-old woman, as planned, put the drug in a glass of orange juice and gave it to her mother.
Lacoursière then enters the residence, but immediately leaves to get stylish relations Tie wraps.
The intervention of another person, a witness, changes the plan. Lacoursière finally leaves the scene without executing the famous plan. A police complaint was lodged a few days after the incident.
Lacoursière was arrested in July, while Lachance-Gauthier has been detained since September.
Me Fabien Villemaire notes that Chloé Lachance-Gauthier made a “full confession” during her arrest. The seizure of the cellphones allowed authorities to get their hands on “incriminating conversations” between the two accomplices.
Officers also met with a crime-fighting witness. He was able to confirm some information, and the crown prosecutor notes.
The 30-year-old was originally charged with six counts of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit a criminal offence. Since he pleaded guilty to the first charge, attempted murder, the prosecutor requested that all other charges on file be withdrawn.
Before the court decides on the sentence to be imposed, a probation officer must complete a report on the accused.
Jonatan Lacoursière, 28, is due back in court in January for a preliminary hearing. The man is still charged with six counts of attempted murder of Chloé Lachance-Gauthier’s mother. Despite the summary of facts presented by Me Villemaire on Wednesday, the man is still presumed innocent.
