Hit and Run in Mont-Tremblant |  The suspect was arrested by SQ officials

(Mont-Tremblant) The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating an attack that caused death in Mont-Tremblant, in the Laurentides region.


Emergency services were called to the crash involving a pedestrian at Montée Ryan at around 2am on Saturday.

“According to initial reports, a man in his thirties was found on the ground suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition where he was sadly pronounced dead,” said SQ spokeswoman Elizabeth Marquis-Guy.

The suspect in the case was a twenty-year-old man who was quickly arrested.

“The driver, in his twenties, allegedly struck the pedestrian and continued on his way without stopping. The police arrested him,” the information officer said.

He will face justice on serious charges.

“He will face charges of hit and run causing death, as well as driving while impaired,” Mr.me Marquis-Guy.

The suspect is expected to be interviewed by investigators in the coming hours.

The investigation was entrusted to the Major Crimes Unit of the Sûreté du Québec.

A reconstructionist specializing in accident scenes was called to the scene.
