today Co-host Hoda Kotb said on the show Wednesday that Hoda Kotb was absent from the show due to “a family health issue she was dealing with.”
Kotb made her last live appearance on the show on February 17. She also appeared on February 20 at 4 on Today with Jenna Bush Hager, but this was previously taped to air on Presidents Day.
On Tuesday, co-host Savannah Guthrie left during the show when she tested positive for COVID.
We wish our friend a speedy recovery. As for Hoda – we know a lot of you are wondering how she’s doing. We can tell you Hoda is fine. She has a family health issue that she’s been dealing with, so we look forward to seeing Hoda And Savannah will be back here at The Office very soon.”

This was the first time the show addressed her absence, as she posted messages on her Instagram account, but they did not explain the reason for her absence. “Choose Hope,” read a message I posted on Monday. Followers expressed concerns about the reason for her absence from the show.
Guthrie was on the program on Tuesday, but left abruptly after testing positive.
Sheinelle Jones, Co-Host todayAt the third hour, she gave an on-air update at the end of the 8 a.m. hour of the show, saying, “It was a fun morning for us. Like we said, Savannah left early, she wasn’t feeling good, so she took a Covid test,” Jones said.
Jones continued, “It came back positive. So of course as soon as we found out, I rushed home to rest. So Savannah, we love you, and we wish you a speedy recovery.”
