How Knives Among Us Foreshadowed Mystery

Major spoilers for Glass Onion: Takes the mystery out of the cutlery are presented in this article.

Glass Onion: Takes the mystery out of the cutlery It more or less borrows a lot of set pieces and their structure from Between us, which may sound strange, but it stuck with me. in front glass onionBenoit Blanc was seen by Daniel Craig play the beloved game, Between us. Part of the reason for this is that the movie was set during the early days of the pandemic while he was stuck inside his home. During this time people were looking for new games to play and Between us It found massive success in the middle of 2020. Naturally, being a detective, Blanc was drawn to the murder mystery game.

after opening Between us It’s never seen or explicitly mentioned again, but there are an absurd amount of similarities. Yes, it’s a murder mystery, so it’s only natural to expect the similarities. However, it gets more specific than that when you take a closer look.

Most of these parallels don’t actually start until late in the movie. About halfway through, when things start hitting the fan, the power goes out to the entire house. This is a very key mechanic in Between us Because it allows killers to kill people without being noticed, sneak away, and perform other nefarious tasks that would lead to crime. This is exactly what happens in glass onion As everyone scatters in the dark until Benoit Blanc and Andy meet outside on the stairs. At this moment, a mysterious person, later revealed to be Miles Bron, uses this blackout to shoot Andi. The intent is to kill her, but it actually doesn’t work.

This all happens because… Andi is Juggler! Her name is actually Hellen and she is the twin sister of Andi, who died before the movie actually started. Hellen used the comfort of being a twin to work undercover with Blanc to find out who killed her sister as none of the other guests know Andi is dead, except for the one who killed her. As it would happen, a book in Helen’s pocket stops the bullet and Blanc pours some hot sauce on her to make it look like she’s bleeding. This gives Hellen time to search the house to try and find evidence that would point her to who killed her sister.

While she is doing so, Blanc invites everyone into the main room of the house for… an emergency meeting! Here he stops time while Hellen searches for the house, but also begins to reveal how he knows Miles Bron is actually the killer. He makes his case and breaks it down for everyone to hear so they all turn on Miles. However, Miles burns the only tangible evidence that could actually incriminate him, so Blanc is forced to let the likes of Helen and the other guests take matters into their own hands and blow up his house. It may not be shot in outer space as it is in Between usbut the movie takes place on a private island, so that wouldn’t be entirely possible.

Whether or not any of this was actually intended on the part of director Rian Johnson remains to be seen. However, given the blatant reference to the game in the film, it appears that Johnson spent some time playing the game during the pandemic and may have inadvertently inspired some moments while writing it. Take out the knives sequel.
