Firefighters from the Quebec Fire Protection Service (SPCIQ) were called to 3017 to respond to a fire in the residence of a family on rue de Valmont in the last few hours.
Around 4:53 a.m. this morning, several calls were made to 911. A one-story house was gutted by fire. According to the first witnesses, the fire also hit a neighboring house at 3021, rue de Valmont.
A second alarm was raised to get additional crews to fight the fire. Both residences were evacuated before firefighters arrived.
“Shortly after firefighters arrived, most of the fire was quickly extinguished and contained. Partners from Énergir and Hydro-Québec arrived on scene,” said SPCIQ spokesperson David Poitras.
In total, seven people were evacuated from two residences. They were looked after by the Red Cross. Residents of 3017 have sustained so much damage to their residence that it is not possible to restore them. No injuries were reported during this incident.
The fire was brought under control at 6.21 am. Around 40 firemen rushed to the spot during the peak of the fire. The fire department went to the spot and investigated the cause and circumstances of the fire.
