The St. Patrick’s Day Parade returned to Montreal on Sunday for its 198th edition.

After a hiatus during the pandemic and last year’s shortened edition, this year’s event went off without a hitch.

77 floats paraded through downtown Montreal in front of thousands of people. Many of them had come 90 minutes before the start of the parade to reserve their seats.

Despite the cold weather, the citizens were there and Saint-Catherine Street was crowded.

“A few years ago it was minus 20, which is great. It’s not great, but we’re going to do it,” Leah Tracey, spokeswoman for the United Irish Associations of Montreal, explained to TVA Nouvelles.

“We’re all happy to be here and happy to be back from this parade. It’s very important for the Irish community in Montreal,” he added.
