In retrospect, Frank Reich wishes he could give Bryce Young “that moment” at the end of Thursday’s game

Tiger coach Frank Reich Defend the decision to attempt a 59-yard field goal late in their 16-13 loss to the Bears on Thursday night, but he had a different view of the matter on Friday.

During a press conference, Reich reiterated that the numbers said the field goal attempt was the right move and said he believed the team would have won the game in the end if Eddy Pineiro’s kick had been good. He also said that “in retrospect” he wished he had made the decision to go for fourth-and-10.

“Give it to Bryce that moment“It’s too late,” Reich said. “The reason is that there is still enough time on the clock. Even if we get the transfer, we still have time to go up and score. It’s easy to second-guess yourself, I wish I had gone the other way. I considered all the options, and chose Statistical play.

Given the way the Panthers’ offense played Thursday night, there’s plenty of reason to believe the fourth-down attempt would have failed and the result would have been exactly the same. If things had gone the other way, the Panthers might have gotten a win that changed the course of their season.

This is likely part of the reason Reich now wants to take the other path and reflects how much the head coach needs things to start going in a better direction in his first season in Carolina.
