Police Officer Erin Howard has been charged with disorderly conduct, disobedience and breach of trust.
“I wanted to congratulate all the truckers,” he said in a video posted on Twitter on January 24, but it was removed.
“I think what you are doing is amazing. You are fighting for our rights and our freedoms. At this point, it seems we are in a bit of a war and these rights and freedoms are in danger,” he added, according to the media.
Durham Regional Police responded quickly on Twitter to cut themselves off from the agent’s comments.
The trial is set to begin on May 5.
