Quebecois president Yves-François Blanchet, who was invited to the Democratic Convention in Chicago, has no sympathy for the political climate that currently reigns on both sides of the Canadian-American border.

During an interview with LCN, he drew a parallel between the upcoming federal elections and the current US presidential election.
“War will be very difficult. Politics today is very different from the politics we knew 20 or 30 years ago,” he declared.
He believes that current political discourse is marked by slogans, personal insults and a blatant lack of consideration for the truth.
In addition, he deplores the lack of substantial debate on important and complex issues such as immigration, the economic model, the energy transition and, in Quebec, the preservation of the French language.
Serious discussions on such issues are difficult, Mr. Blanchett notes.
“Crucial in-depth interviews are happening less and less, and social networks are playing a demeaning, insulting and intimidating role rather than the democratic tool we used to have.
