Jimmy Buffett’s younger sister, Lori, has revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer “around the same time” as her late brother, who died last week at the age of 76.

Lori, 74, discovered she had pancreatic cancer during the pandemic, and is now cancer-free after months of treatment.

But the “Margaritaville” hitmaker, who was diagnosed with a rare form of skin cancer called Merkel Cell Carcinoma, sadly lost his battle surrounded by his loved ones on Friday.

Speaking about the death of her beloved brother, Laurie admits she is “surprised that Jimmy didn’t survive.”

“Jimmy and I were diagnosed with cancer around the same time.” He told people.

“It was four years ago and Jimmy was diagnosed first. When Jimmy found out [I had cancer] He brought the whole family and dogs to Montana to be with me.

Although she sought treatment in Montana, Lori says she and her late brother, whom she lovingly referred to as Bubba, relied on each other for support throughout their battles with cancer.

“Jimmy and I became closer because of cancer. We spoke before and after our scans. “We shared a club that no one wants to join. I’m surprised Jimmy didn’t make it.

Lori admitted that Jamie was an inspiration to her throughout treatment.

“I rode my horse during my treatment and tried to continue my life the same way Jimmy did,” she told the outlet.

For his part, Jimmy was surrounded by his loved ones in his final moments, and Laurie says the siblings reminisced about each other’s childhood memories.

After the singer’s death, Laurie rushed To social media To pay tribute to her beloved brother, she wrote: “Lulu and I were just with Bubba. We talked about our childhoods as only siblings can communicate. I told him I’ve known him longer than anyone else on the planet. He smiled with those sparkling blue eyes and squeezed my hand.”

The “It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere” singer’s death was announced on social media just months after he was forced to stop several of his shows following a series of hospitalizations.

Although this was the correct course of action at the time, Lowry admits it ruined him.

“Jimmy wanted to do the shows he had to cancel,” she said. “He has brought joy to so many. I’m very emotional now. When Jimmy was in the world, I felt safe. Even though I have Tom, it will be completely new for me to be without my brother Jimmy.”
